Le Gitan (The Gypsy) Fall CLO3D Fashion Show by Fashion Designer Perry Uwanawich

Le Gitan (The Gypsy) Fall CLO3D Fashion Show by Fashion Designer Perry Uwanawich, created in Marvelous Designer 11 and After Effects. I wanted to design a capsule collection that represents where the Gypsies, Rom, my people, descended from and migrated to, from Asia (India to China/Korea/Japan, etc.) to Europe, Spain, and the United States. The garments are representative of that heritage, including Kurtas, Saris, the gee, a Flamenco-inspired ruffle skirt with a peasant blouse, and then reflecting on how much work is left to be done for women’s rights, represented in the skirt-pant-hybrid, because women are still expected to cover up and wear long skirts. There’s also a recurring motif of the caterpillar and butterfly in my work, and here it’s represented in the chrysalis coat, which has a print reflective of a coccon’s. All of the designs and fabric prints are my own original work and concepts.

I wanted to test out Marvelous Designer 11, as I’ve used various iterations of the 3D CAD software in the past, probably starting with Marvelous Designer 2. I feel like it’s much faster and runs smoother on smaller computers such as my laptop- before it would freeze a computer with higher capacity than this. There are still glitchy collision issues, but they can be edited out if you have a lot of patience, however, I gave up with a few of the sleeves and skirts because this was just a project for fun.
