Rick Owens Fall 2019

Rick Owens Fall 2019 featured SFX Runway Makeup, beautiful silhouettes and lines accentuating the shoulders, and had a unique take on making use of different planes of the body in this Utilitarian craze we’re seeing this season. What with his publicity stunts in the past, it was easy to overlook his genius, and I’m glad…

Manish Arora Fall 2019

Manish Arora’s Fall 2019 collection really would benefit from editing because some of the garments and accessories are really cool but may be overlooked within the hoard of design splayed onto the runway: it’s an overdose of color, print, texture and fabric selection. The object bags are amazing- tea pots, sharks and fish, vehicles… The…

Courréges Fall 2019 Runway Beauty

Courréges Fall 2019’s show was stolen by the Runway Beauty with top lashes used as bottom lashes, red and orange shadow contrasting blue on the lower lash-line and visa versa, a peachy orange soft smokey eye, exadderated yet soft white brow-bone contour, extra lashes under the eyes entirely, and use of unusual materials for lashes. …

Fabulous Fashion: Dior’s New Look To Now Exhibit

The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s exhibit was certainly titled appropriately, abounding with fabulous fashion from post war era to modern times. Upon entering, I was greeted with Dior’s New Look, the inspiration for the exhibition, which changed the silhouette and hemline of wartime garments back to full skirts, cinched waists, and floor lengths as a…

Labyrinth: 3D Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2019 SS18

3D fashion show inspired by the 50’s, unrequited love and yellow flowers (tabebuia), love and heartbreak. Butterflies and Moths translated into literal and abstract prints, with some pattern pieces and garments mirroring the shapes of the wings, as well as appliques. Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2018

The Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2018 collection marks a shift in the brand’s visual style.  It seems that Paul Surridge, the new creative director (Vogue ’18), succeeds in taming the wild animal that is Cavalli and its prints- almost everything is salable, marketable, wearable.  There is a marked difference between this and recent Cavalli collections which really…

Fendi Spring/Summer 2018 featured striped chevron print off-the-shoulder dresses, a continuation of the bag and bag-accessory evolution with unique strap details including prints and frimge, cut-outs, sheared fur in intricate prints and textures, and an interesting use of fabric selection. Met Ball 2017: Rei Kawakubo Comme des Garçons

The 2016 Met Gala’s theme is Manus x Machina, and appropriately, Marchesa tweeted out a collaboration with IBM- and their “Cognitive Dress” in the early morning hours. We’ve seen many memorable looks from past Met Ball themes of Punk and China through the Looking Glass.  I just have Linda Fargo and Sarah Jessica Parker, as […]

Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2017

Fencing has been done recently, but for Spring/Summer 2017 Dior put its own spin on it. Jackets, vests, and dresses bore signature details of the sport: quilting, straps, and studs, with a nod of a hat or visor. Gorgeous graphic dresses, knits, and skirts; on-trend below the knee skirts paired with red Moto jackets and…
