Labyrinth: 3D Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2019 SS18

3D fashion show inspired by the 50’s, unrequited love and yellow flowers (tabebuia), love and heartbreak. Butterflies and Moths translated into literal and abstract prints, with some pattern pieces and garments mirroring the shapes of the wings, as well as appliques. I chose to embody the different styles that came out of the fifties, the sock hoppers, greasers, beatniks and the glamour evoked by old Hollywood.I chose to embody the different styles that came out of the fifties, the sock hoppers, greasers, beatniks and the glamour evoked by old Hollywood.

Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2017

Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2017 was a continuation of their against-the-grain 80’s vibe…the only thing on-trend about it was the carpet bagger jackets. The silhouettes, the grotesque sloppiness of it all was off-putting – it was stiff and cheap with leather, gold lamé…sleeves and shoulders dropped more and more throughout the show. Is that a drop…

Balmain Spring/Summer 2017

Can I be honest? I want Balmain to switch it up next fall in a major way. This is like a three season transition here, and while there have been such glamorous looks, I feel like there isn’t enough of a contrast from SS16 to SS17. The post-Olivier Balmain has gone from edgy and grunge…

Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2017

Fencing has been done recently, but for Spring/Summer 2017 Dior put its own spin on it. Jackets, vests, and dresses bore signature details of the sport: quilting, straps, and studs, with a nod of a hat or visor. Gorgeous graphic dresses, knits, and skirts; on-trend below the knee skirts paired with red Moto jackets and…

Givenchy Couture FW16 Fall/Winter 2016

The Givenchy Couture FW16 Fall/Winter 2016 collection was a mix of the unwearable and originality met with attention to detail. Ill-fitting party streamer and fringe dresses added volume to the natural waistline and did nothing for the models. The mirror mosaic reveal beneath black beaded zipper paneled blazer was a unique twist on blazers similar…

Balmain Resort Spring/Summer 2017 SS17

High-waisted pants with Hip-high slits, bustiers, capes, flowing wide-legged jumpsuits, sheer chiffon, ruffles, bishop sleeved and sheer detailed blouses, turquoise and leopard tassel and crochet detailed belts over green and orange jumpsuits, a navy lace-up off the shoulder crop top, chokers, a leg and midriff cut-out top and skirt similar to dresses worn by JLO…

DSquared2 Resort Spring/Summer 2017 SS17

Let your freak…errr…British flag fly with flag and patch detailed bags, unusual nose and lip jewelry, lace-up knee-high peep-toe boots, fedoras and caps, classic cut outerwear and shirting, cropped denim cargo vests, and bleached destroyed denim, the DSquared2 Resort Spring/Summer 2017 womenswear collection mixed the 70’s with a bit of a punk influence. The long…

Junya Watanabe Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear

The Junya Watanabe SS17 menswear collection stood out mostly for its graphic prints and contrasting sleeves on leather jackets and coats- or visa versa with leather sleeves on blazers. Something about the eye graphic print and halftone print face t-shirts look dark, the first of which reminds me of Dali for some reason, the later…

Fashion and Beauty Trends From Fashion Weeks Fall/Winter 2016 FW16

Fashion Weeks typically follow certain trends globally, with each city having things in common with and differing from the other parts of the globe. In the videos below I discuss trends we’ve seen in fashion and beauty from Paris, London, Milan, and New York Fashion Week. Fashion Trends: As we move from the 90’s and…

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2016 Paris Fashion Week PFW FW16 AH16

The Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2016 Paris Fashion Week runway show melded high fashion with athletic inspiration, made evident in the sleeves and cut of dresses and pullovers. Leather pants, jackets and coats were paired with silk dresses and skirts, fur, and cropped jackets. Remember the halfsie fingerless gloves from SS16? They’ve seemingly inspired leather finger-wrap…
