Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2017

Fencing has been done recently, but for Spring/Summer 2017 Dior put its own spin on it. Jackets, vests, and dresses bore signature details of the sport: quilting, straps, and studs, with a nod of a hat or visor. Gorgeous graphic dresses, knits, and skirts; on-trend below the knee skirts paired with red Moto jackets and Tshirts evoke Buffy meets SJP in that Sex in the City Dior number she wore.  Speaking of skirts becoming longer, are we entering into the era of the New New Look?  Mirroring the post-war economic circumstance of Dior’s New Look, fashion history is repeating itself, with an economic stimulus being the motivator; more yardage, more volume… more is more- more money that is!  I do feel like, regardless of it not being original, the Dior SS17 collection was unique, fresh and cool…and I will definitely be constructing my own rip off fencing bib/vest…errr…whatever that thing is.
