Ever since they stole the show at Prada’s Fall 2019 Runway Show, I’ve had these Prada Monolith boots on my mind and knew I’d have to find a dupe given they’re almost $2,000. I finally have found the perfect dupe for the Prada Monolith and Prada Monolith Tall combat boots…minus the pouches of course, but the boots that come with pouches hardly mimick the details of these hard-edged lug-sole boots.

Marc Fisher’s Happy, Happier, and Hayes boots really replicate the look of the Prada Monolith Tall Boots, although the pouches and piping along the toe aren’t there. It’s interesting to see how the trickle down effects has influenced combat boots in the market- from Dolls Kill to Steeve Madden, Aldo and others have all showing boots with pouches attached for some time.
DIY Prada Monolith Molle Boot Pouches
So, what about the pouches? Well, you can find some alternatives that look really close if you search molle tactical pouch, coin purse, key, etc. But, I am a DIY’er at heart, so I’m chopping up a nylon cosmetic bag and making my own…by hand! That’s right, I’m out of town from Rhode Island and am visiting in Boca Raton…ew…Florida. I don’t have my sewing machine so I’m going to hand sew them…although sewing the vegan leather straps will prove this project to be something I’ve underestimated.
I began by drawing out some shapes and sizes on paper, refined them twice and settled with the third set. I then laid those pattern pieces down onto the nylon bag and strategically placed them to get the most out of my fabric. Although I originally thought I’d use the zippers from my old boots or the bag, I don’t want them to look mismatched, so I’ll have to make a trip to the fabric store.
