Can we all agree that Vogue murdered Style.com and we’ll never forgive them for it?

Did we get played at times during New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2021? Most certainly- but not because of the pandemic, but rather foolish mistakes on the part of NYFW.com and Vogue in my opinion.

“Live,” collection, and show were terms used loosely, with fully edited pre-shot and pre-recorded video…that’s more a premiere, no? There seems to have been no criteria for submissions: Did I really just see an Aknvas 30 second clip? That’s an Instagram worthy post, not a show, livestream, or a collection.

Non-Fashion Fashion Week: a photo shoot or presentation shouldn’t really push a short film that is neither about nor presents that collection…it’s just not the right time and it’s going to confuse and frustrate your audience! Similarly- presentations were always differentiated from runway shows for over a decade, so combining them is understandable during the pandemic, but why are we being shown jewelry and pottery when you thought it necessary to have separate fashion weeks for the sexes? The Talks are a different story: it was a collection of live videos clearly labeled and titled on the schedule, and does at least have to do with fashion or the industry. Why is Frere on the schedule, and I’m tuned in, and it’s another film? Girl bye NYFW!

Why am I seeing someone’s sketches as if it is a collection? It’s absurd… sorry Vogue & NYFW.com, but it’s the damn truth. If we’re posting sketches, you want to give us all a shot at least? I mean last I checked you need to be in business for years to get a shot, now we’re showing drawings like they’re garments and collections? No, ma’am…that doesn’t show me construction and execution, that doesn’t show me follow-through.

Glitch Glitch Bitch: The CFDA’s launch of Runway 360 was slightly bumpy, with 502 errors- it might have been a good idea to launch earlier and work out the kinks…and consider full width live video pages might load slowly on mobile or with considerable traffic…and we need some damn video controls hello! But, at least the CFDA more coherently organized categories such as Accessories, and had more collections and live feeds than NYFW.com, which has faults of its own: That schedule? Bitch please- you expect me to do a horizontal scroll 100 times as it resets?
