Vivienne Westwood Fall 2019: Fashion Protest

Vivienne Westwood’s Fall 2019 runway show was all about graphic protest through fashion, although Vogue’s Luke Leitch’s review was more a protest of the protest than a review…he discussed literally nothing shown but rather complained about being sold clothes while being “preached” to about sustainability. Sustainability and pollution in the fashion industry is not about…

Helmut Lang Fall 2019

Helmut Lang’s Fall 2019 collection was like a cool take on a retrospective notion of modernity: the transparent coat, shear tops and pants with contrasting fabric pocket exposed from the layer beneath, unique straps with hook and eye closures-some in silver lamé- were details that made the collection stand out. I will definitely be sewing…

Labyrinth: 3D Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2019 SS18

3D fashion show inspired by the 50’s, unrequited love and yellow flowers (tabebuia), love and heartbreak. Butterflies and Moths translated into literal and abstract prints, with some pattern pieces and garments mirroring the shapes of the wings, as well as appliques. I chose to embody the different styles that came out of the fifties, the sock hoppers, greasers, beatniks and the glamour evoked by old Hollywood.I chose to embody the different styles that came out of the fifties, the sock hoppers, greasers, beatniks and the glamour evoked by old Hollywood.

Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2017: Seventies Slayed

Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2017 will be the third collection inspired by the 70’s trend- we’ve seen rock star and boho chic looks from the designer recently, and SS17 seems- at first sight- to be a continuation of the last show…down to the set. Asymmetry, Indian inspiration, the expected plethora of prints from the print-master himself-…

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear

The Givenchy Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear runway show was full of utilitarian pockets, cross-body bags and apron-esque front-packs, zipper slit details, and graphic prints, including cash money, checkers, and camo.  Bucket hats paired with longline suits and sneakers,  pinstripes contrasting camo, Givenchy SS17 was an interesting albeit less commercial show.

Fashion Week Spring Summer 2017

J.W. Anderson Nasir Mazhar Moschino: florals, flower power, tie dye and vivid color, button embellishments, graphic prints and patches, multicolored moto-jackets and 70’s flair characterized the rasta infused collection. Belstaff: racer and military inspired jackets offer a certaiin edge.

McQ Men’s Fall/Winter 2016 New York Fashion Week NYFW MBFW FW16

McQ Men’s Fall/Winter 2016 New York Fashion Week started off with thigh-high lace up boots atop leather pants, paired with black t-shirts, blazers, culottes, leather vests and jackets, and spearmint piped jumpsuits and boots.  The palette was mostly black with a touch of burgundy; a black splattered cream jacket; and blue/white/red, black/yellow, and black/white windowpane…

Craig Green FW16: Mad For Muslin LFW Spring/Summer 2016

Craig Green’s Fall/Winter 2016 London Men’s Fashion Week Collection seemed to be a hogwash mishmash of muslin, prisoner uniform meets Adams family meets fashion school rendition of Edward Scissorhands. I wish there was some major editing because it’s more costume than fashion, even when trying to imagine the pieces as separates…
