Isabel Marant SS16

I feel as if the Isabel Marant SS16 collection was a mishmash of wearable, cool looks mixed in with either these weird cheap dorky outfits, like the yellow jumpsuit, or this ethnic atrocity from Mongolia maybe?  Editing is crucial…I feel like this leaves the consumer having to guess what’s fashionable and what’s costume travel souvenir.

Christian Dior SS16: Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Wow, Christian Dior has lost it for Spring/Summer 2016…I can’t wait to laugh at Natalie Portman in these hideous rags of unfinished cropped sweaters paired with old-timey under garments and “dresses” made out of fabric so cheap it wouldn’t make a proper dinner table napkin.  Blah is how I would describe the collection…aside from the…

Alexandre Vauthier SS16

Alexandre Vauthier SS16 was a fabulous and edgy collection, modern yet on trend with the 70’s and 90’s trends in fringe, metal bondage collar, jumpsuits, leather jackets… Gorgeous separates, amazing shoes, and a beautiful model certainly helps.

Lanvin SS16

Sexy without being slutty, classy without being demure…the Lanvin SS16 collection was chic.  Honestly, I think this is what Chanel wishes it could be…or rather what Coco would be doing now; she’d be fashion forward not ever-dabbling in that tweed suit…the woman was a revolutionary not a bore.  Impeccable construction and execution, perfectly tailored pieces…

Rick Owens SS16: Fashion Comedy

How do you get attention for ugly clothes that lack design, taste, construction and execution value? You show penises, strap people to one another…it’s fashion slap-stick hunty bunty junior.  Rick Owens is a joke.

Balmain SS16

You already know I loved the men’s Balmain SS16 show, see it here.  For Womenswear SS16, Balmain was still gorgeous, on-trend with the knits and color palette of tans and nude, among the black, emerald green, and turquoise.  I loved how Kylie Jenner looked in the knit dress and the VMA’s, and think there are…

Aganovich SS16

Aganovich was a sculpturally genius collection and the most original show we’ve seen at any fashion week globally for Spring/Summer 2016, let alone Paris Fashion Week.  The Burton-esque coats, corsets, and insane neckties were literally out of this world.  This can certainly be great editorial material, as well as costumes, but I do not mean…

Dries Van Noten SS16: Senile for the Summer

The Dries Van Noten Spring/Summer 2016 collection was a confrabulation of the 70’s with the 50’s, which admittedly did serve up some glamour which was quickly tarnished by the before-pants or up-cycled high-water mom jeans. Metallic embroidery, jewel tone fabrics, weird unflattering bras and boob pouches sewn into the garments, and textile prints characterized this collection, which…

Paris Fashion Week SS16: The Bad and the Blah

There were several collections either too boring, safe, or so unflattering I couldn’t see feigning a discussion, so I decided to group them together. Courrèges: Contradictory to it’s name, the collection was safe and ugly. Margiela: I never like Margiela’s looks…if you were to see these photos without knowing who made the looks, you’d honestly…

Anrealage SS16

Anrealage Spring/Summer 2016 is the most Lady-Gaga-Appropriate collection we’ve seen of any fashion week thus far, globally.  From the Avant-garde looks, from the eye-high pleated anonymity designs below (perhaps up Sia’s alley, that contrived bitch), to the mirrored kaleidoscopic looks, this collection has balls.  It is all costume, but to go beyond the limitations of fashion…
