Laser cuts, stripes galore, intricately gorgeous bags, the Fendi Spring/Summer 2016 runway show was full of utilitarian pockets, voluminous sleeves, truly wearable takes on the PJ’s movement, and how Karl can anything be without shade(s)? There was something odd about those aprons…err- slip dress mutations, and I can only see them serving as a cover up on the beach or worn over something- which, just don’t! There were several elements I didn’t like- the weird mock-neck deep plunge dress, for example- and had the Fendi SS17 collection been edited down, it would’ve been much more cohesive and elevated. The runway beauty look featured a strongly defined brow, metallic lips, and a blocked cat eye on the inner and outer corners of the eyes only.
My beef with Fendi? The furs and skins…the unapologetic excessive use of fur to the point of presenting only fur collections! I believe it’s 5-6 types of animals used to create those adorable yet blood soaked bag bugs and Karlitos– you can refer to my earlier posts. Why so dramatic? They’re skinned alive and left alive to die slowly…piled on top of one another…screaming, skinless– like a scene from the most gruesome of horror films. Until Fendi makes some major changes in it’s use of fur and skin, I say boycott! Then, like something inspired by Frankenstein, the skins are stitched and laced together, the furs balled up into cute key-chains…”It [was] alive!!!”
