Utilitarian garments, pockets, and bags dominated the Fall 2019 Fashion Week runway. Oversized patch pockets with flaps or zippers, pouches draping off different areas of the body, and gargantuan bags such as Derek Lam‘s and Ovadia & Sons’ meet consumers’ growing need to carry their
expanding essentials; phones, tablets, e-cigarettes, makeup, wallets, fragrance atomizers, skincare or spf, sunglasses…a small bag can’t always cut it and a tote is sometimes too much.
Eckhaus Latta and Adeam were also among designs whose collections perpetuated the trend. Palm Angels showed many utilitarian inspired looks, capitalizing on even the sleeves surface for pocket placement.
