2017 Cannes Red Carpet Best and Worst Dressed

The 2017 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet was full of glitter, glitz, and glam and sharply contrasted by cheap costume looks complete with synthetic wigs in fashion colors.  Fabulous stylist-curated wardrobes, carefully posed clutches, poised postures…Cannes is one of the years big fashion events, Hollywood starlets drawing the attention of the world in all their glory. One thing missing on each of the girls featured here?  The use of accessories and manicures to accentuate the looks seems lacking.  I’m a guy and I’d coordinate my nails to my outfits, and would definitely have some delicate necklaces, a ring or bracelet thrown in here or there for some of bare arms and necks shown below.
Overall Best Dressed Goes to Elle Fanning, who served us 60’s mod to 70’s glamour without a hitch, including her muted makeup, nude eye-makeup and lips, and graphic eyeliner. That custom lilac is stunning against her cool skin-tone, as is that sea-foam green with silver embellishment and floral applique.

Worst Dressed goes to Salma Hayek in Gucci, which is surprising given it’s a fashion house that’s really hot in dressing celebrities right now due to the uber-trendy collections since Fall/Winter 2016. Sorry, not feeling the Peter-Pan collar with the blue, AND the red bow…embellishment doesn’t equate to carpet worthy in my book. Matching your hair to your dress is a Victorian throwback I would have respected it six months to year ago…not now.

Nicole Kidman had some jaw dropping, trendy looks on the 2017 Cannes Red Carpet- although I didn’t care for the Calvin Klein black and white number. The green dress took me to a formal garden fantasy, whilst the print embodied the 70’s trend effortlessly.  The beauty formula, a berry or red lip, peachy or rosy blush, defined brow, and tousled platinum hair- which suits her well.
