The Gucci Fall/Winter 2017 runway show, which kicked off Milan Fashion Week, was infused with asian and seventies vibes with influences from AC-DC, U.F.O’s, punk, nature and florals. The color palette was bold, the fabrics were embroidered and embellished; the prints were retro and very now, bold florals atop neutrals. The silhouettes were form-fitting with flared legs and sleeves, the hemlines ranged from mini to full length. The sumptuous fabric selection included lace, silk, graphic wool coats, glittering jackets, studded graphic leather used in the mini, horrid suiting styled questionably, tweed, and patent leather. While I’ve been over the GG monogram for a while now (maybe a decade), the stockings were to #live for- as were the sparkling fishnets (although they were styled awkwardly). The huge beetle necklace, wide brim hats, and the tiny round-lens sunglasses .
The Gucci Fall/Winter 2017 Menswear, albeit glamorous in ways (the gold graphic pants), was a continuation of the ever-long dandy trend: frill bishop collars, tight flared leg pants, and layers of differing lengths.
The Gucci Runway Beauty and Makeup look featured metallic nose piercings exiting each nostril, rhinestone lips, a light dusting of golden rod eye-shadow
Dare we say Gucci got a little tacky for MFW FW17? That green suit with snakeskin boots and that hat and that bag AND the scarf? Really girl? The biggest problem with the Gucci FW17 runway show is cohesion- this should have been edited into multiple collections, given there were very different and clashing looks here- studded leather moto jackets and cropped overalls met with the 70’s and period influences. The Gucci consumer is someone with MPD whose alters come from different times, places, and even planets- sometimes she’s a gypsy, sometimes she’s a glamazon, and others, she’s this cheap tacky bitch. Don’t get me wrong, there were gorgeous, glamorous looks within the collection, but even good ones like green dress with chain-male, were tainted with the over-design, cheap flowers
