Calvin Klein Collection’s Fall/Winter 2017 New York Fashion Week collection, under Raf Simons‘ creative direction, continued with the 70’s theme: patch-pocket shirts and denim, plastic wrapped coats and furs (please, faux only), very perplexing oddities- sheer sweaters with contrasting knit sleeves, suiting and cowboy boots?
The standout looks were the plastic coats, the suiting, sheer graphic shirts, floral embossed and silver leafed black leather jacket with collar, knit arm warmers, and graphic coats. The color palette and combinations was hypnotic, with Yale and Majorelle Blues making a breathtaking pairing, and included Midnight Green, mustard, blue, red, wheat, white, burnt myrtle green, grey, raspberry, and black. Interestingly, feather dresses under plastic look like a hairy man in tights…not a good look, and surprisingly so considering the fur didn’t give the same effect. Overall, the Calvin Klein Collection was full of questionably bad, boring, and unique yet wearable looks- the men’s suiting and more original looks being among the best.
