Long flowing layers, gold contrasting camo, iridescent robes paired with graphic t-shirts, white and silver, gorgeous monochrome black looks shone with contrasting texture, The Balmain Fall/Winter 2017 collection was dark and mysterious, combat kickass, and chicly wearable. The knitwear, with large turtleneck and strap details looked a little Storm Trooper. I do love the versatility of the zipper detail on the coats, allowing them to be made longer, shorter, left open and dangling- I first had a pinstripe jacket by Jean Paul Gaultier in this style. The studded jackets were stunning, as was the large scale hounds tooth tweed blazer- I didn’t feel the same way about the scaled down version for men. Quilted and studded leather, a horridly grotesque houndstooth dress… The Balmain FW17 collection was ornate, edgy, luxe, and trendy.
