Would you tattoo your own brows on? This YouTuber did!
In one of my recent posts, Dangerous Beauty Hacks, Treatments, Procedures and Trends, I discussed potentially dangerous Beauty DIY’s and Hacks, such as applying Nail Polish as Eyeliner… Sadly, the saga continues- a YouTuber, Mermaid Gossip, has Microbladed her own eyebrows at home! Upon playing this video, I immediately envisioned others attempting this in a not-so-safe manner, not taking into account potentially infecting the skin with unsanitary blades, poisoning themselves by not considering the type of ink or dye they’re using, on and on. Looking crazy is the least of your worries with any type of DIY procedure.

Watching her numb her brows, cut into her skin repeatedly…it is crazy- a point to which we are driven when we become obsessed with a trait or feature we want to change or enhance- again something I discuss in the Dangerous Beauty Hacks post . But, just like black market injections and procedures, doing it yourself should not be an option. According to Elle.com’s “What is Eyebrow Microblading,” by Julie Schott, “microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine…” The article goes on to precaution and prepare women for the procedure: “If you drink a lot, take aspirin, or use retinol, stop one week before your treatment. ‘Retinol makes your skin thin and then you bleed a little more…Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, and alcohol.'”
