Since it is Throwback Thursday, let’s discuss the Gareth Pugh Spring/Summer 2017 LFW collection, an avant-garde, grandiose, even theatrical show. Like something out of a Lady Gaga video, this dark and dramatic 3D sculptural masterpiece strut onto the runway. Speaking of which, I can see her, Beyoncé, and Katy Perry in Pugh, and feel as if there is a Bowie and Punk influence running through the collection.
The looks seem to reference religious icons: halos and headdresses either crowned models or were built into the designs themselves. The looks were gold and black, white, and purple, paired with black platform boots and purple laces, gold embellished gloves, and monochromatic cuffs and collars matching the garments. The Gareth Pugh SS17 runway show was dark, dramatic, edgy, and futuristically fashion-forward.
