Gator trench coats, ostritch bags and bombers, the first wearable sandals of the season, those coveted trunk bags and graphic monogram backpacks… the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear collection was full of texture, classic and animal prints, and who could resist goth inspired leg-strap pants? Can we just have a moment of silence for the transparent monogram trench and tan studded collar? Behlond, that inner jacket strap we’re seeing runway after runway has reared its head yet again.
It was as if the prints and saturation got turned up halfway through the show, some of which were wearable, some of which were a bit OTT even for me. There have only been two mens jumpsuits on my blog thus far (one was Balmain’s), and although simple, I feel like there’s some mechanic sex appeal to the grown-up onesie. I love the dangle one-off earrings, the mesh detailed monogram bag, and the classic versus edgy the ran through the collection as a whole. I am not, however, a fan of skins, furs, or anthing unPETA. The Louis Vuitton SS17 menswear collection was a mixture of old-school meets new school, and it served to make thd LV guy a well dressed man with a little edge, and you know I’d rock those edgier pieces all day.
