The Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear collection gave Prada and Gucci a run for their money in terms of travel-inspired threads. Safari jackets, pinstriped double-belted slacks, exposed pockets (not feeling cargo though)…I actually want to be this guy. Colorful artsy knits, mod monochrome, knit sweaters- the minimalism and masculine touches give the Ferragamo man a chic edge (a holster/suspenders belt? Yes, please).
There’s an effortless coolness to the collection: it comes down to minimalism with just the right touch of detail- not over designed or over worked, not four outfits it one, just a sharp look that’s not trying too hard, and that’s what true style and fashion is all about; therefore, I feel as if Ferragamo’s SS17 Menswear collection was on-point…we shall hold off on the fashion-speculation of the houses re-positioning discussion for now (Ferragamo’s been re-positioning itself as a fashion and accessories brand).
