My Harness Bag

This is part of my class assignments for the ParsonsXTeenVogue Fashion Industry Essentials certification program.  It will be costing the bag I’ve designed,  showing you how to sew, use fusible interfacing to give your bag stability, and give you tools and tips to help you complete your sewing project.  Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel and Blog, as I’ll be vlogging and blogging on each of the assignments for the course.

I am happy with the overall look of the bag, and would only redo one of the straps because I’m a perfectionist, but am proud to have brought my vision to life.  The course has pushed me outside of my comfort zone- I’ve created latex jewelry (Unhand Me Bangle), sewn blouses and now bags, created my own graphic print pillow…  This bag was a culmination of the exercises, and required more work than I anticipated: top stitching, lining, creating pockets, adding hardware- the straps required some vision and originality to create this bow-tie cut that would wrap inside the ring and allow for them to be doubled over and top-stitched.  I do feel like it’s original, unique, fashion forward and on-trend with the bondage and leather theme continuing into SS16 and FW16.
