Fashion Weeks typically follow certain trends globally, with each city having things in common with and differing from the other parts of the globe. In the videos below I discuss trends we’ve seen in fashion and beauty from Paris, London, Milan, and New York Fashion Week.
As we move from the 90’s and grunge into the 70’s- we’re seeing both aesthetics for both SS16 and FW16. Layering, androgyny, boho, mod, goth, grunge, and 70’s glamour were embodied in the collections. Womenswear took on a powerfully androgynous tone with leather turned armor- even plated! Menswear was effeminized with silk, chiffon, and lace. Pastel colors and hair continue to trend on and off the runway.
Runway Beauty and Make-Up Trends
Beauty was, for the most part consistent in European fashion weeks- dark eye, muted face and lips, with the exception of a few designers- among them, Yamamoto and Saint Laurent. If the eyes weren’t smudged, grungy, and darkly bold, then the lips were black or dark berry…with the exception of Saint Laurent’s full-face 80’s look.
