The Alexander McQueen London Fashion Week Men’s Fall/Winter 2016 runway fashion show was everythang! Contrast panels on coats and suit jackets added this slimming and stylish effect. Longline shirts which blow away the competition were shown under cropped sweater vests and a shawl lapel vest. The long sleeveless coat is a must-have.
The fabric selection and simple color palette of black, cream, and camel was the thread of simplicity that bound the collection together. The prints included a directional inverted black on white or white on black and tonal butterflies (some cascading others seamless repeating patterns), an abstract black and white floral, and stunning metallic embroidered paisley, which were edgy and chic. My long lost love, jackets with tails! I’m pining over this collection…I know I can’t afford it, so I will construct my own McQueen rip-offs of the jackets and shirts. The McQueen FW16 LFW show was by far the best yet, mixing the luxurious glamour of period inspiration with modern twists and eye-catching details, like the pins and chains- which are in, beading and embroidery…nothing was overdone nor simple. It was on-trend, perfectly tailored and executed, and to-die-for.
