This holiday season is full of beauty, but we’re not discussing the scenery- we’re talking beauty products. Not sure what to gift your friends, family members, or lover? The hottest things on the market are cosmetics and make-up, particularly those bearing celebrities’ names.
Mariah Carey’s MAC lipstick, All I Want, is a shimmering champaigne frost lipstick, $17.
Gwen Stefani’s Urban Decay eye shadow palette is all the rave. With matte, satin, and metallic shades from natural nudes and gold to bold navy and purple, $58 at Sephora and Ulta.
What to gift the woman whose make-up and beauty style you’re unsure of? Make-up brushes, of course. I bought my mom this IT Cosmetics brush set at Ulta, $48. It’s great because it has every type of essential brush: powder, foundation, concealer, shader and crease, brow, and spooly brushes.
I spotted this amazing all in one NYX Cosmetics that’s perfect for throwing in your bag: it has eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, and highlighter in a conveniently flat and compact palette, $16 at Ulta.
Matte Lip Creams: I first tried this for Halloween, and was impressed with their staying power and that they dry on- as a guy I can’t picture having waxy or oily lipstick on all day and having to constantly reapply after sipping, eating, smooching, or smoking. They last for at least 4hrs, and come in a variety of formulas at varying costs. I tried an inexpensive one from Hot Topic ($4), but try NYX Cosmetics’ $9– for the edgy fashionista I’d recommend Silver Fox, a dark grey which is on trend; for the classic girl stick to pinks and neutrals; for the trendy but chic, a dark berry would work well, as it’s all the rage.
