I first fell in love with Jeremy Scott the designer and artist with his 2010 fashion show featuring the trash bag and “Thank You” turned “Fuck You” bag looks (right). I’ve been scrutinizing his designs ever since, and have loved what he’s done with Moschino. For Spring/Summer 2016 Jeremy Scott proved he knows how to put on a fashion show, reminding us that he’s always got a pop-culture influence and an eye trained on the bold, adorable, and salable.
Jeremy Scott is the Designer Who Mind-Shagged Me, taking us back to the 1960’s in a vibrant, fun and refreshing show full of mini shift-dresses, gogo boots, big wigs, and amazing out-there prints. Gigi Hadid opened the how in a pink mini and orange top which set the tone for the show, playing off of the advent of synthetic fabrics and materials, as did the jewelry and accessories: how amazing were the TV-Bags? Spy music played in the background as bold colored looks in vivid greens, yellows, pink, lilac, purple, cyan and every color imaginable strut onto the catwalk. Graphic knits and prints, photo prints, polkadots, silver and pink print lamé, and stripes took us back to pop-art and Warhol: I loved the finger-print, cute cartoon faces, sunglasses, multi-colored gun or water-gun, and abstract prints. The Jeremy Scott SS16 fashion show was a refreshing one which served to wake us up after snoozing off due to repetitive looks show after show.
