Zimmermann SS16

Zimmerman’s Spring/Summer 2016 show buckled us in & took us on a ride through the early 1900’s and 1970’s. Zimmermann incorporated the most historical fashion decades & collided them into this beautifully created period-inspired collection (free the nipple!). The show started off with a white & tan mini dress with a bishop neckline & white floral details around the dress in various places. The skirt of the second look was paired with a sheer bodice, elasticized sleeves, and white floral detail around the bishop neckline and bottom of the sleeves. There was a continuation of floral prints on seven other looks including the beige knee-length sheer-sleeved dress; white mini skirt paired with a sheer bishop-neckline beige top; and white mini dress with a bishop neckline, which was accented at the waist by a belted illusion. We then saw the pattern repeated on a beige mini sheer-sleeved dress with a bishop neckline, and transitioned nicely onto the blue fabric of the proceeding looks. The simply mesmerizing beige bishop neckline top with white pinstripes, paired with a mini frill skirt: the model wore it well, and it was hands-down my favorite look.

There were various colors which walked us through spring and summer: periwinkle, the delicate pinks and raspberry of the floral print, cream, and the on-trend camel and tan. This collection is for the modest woman with an edgy side.  There were mandarin, bishop , frill , & round Bertha necklines with mini & knee-length hemlines, straight leg pants, woven heavy tops, and lots of frill, pleats, and ruffles.  The shoes were just as daring and yet a mood of modesty resonated throughout the collection, as in the second look. There was something about seeing a bishop neckline and mini skirt paired together that couldn’t look more elegantly edgy, and we see this continue throughout the whole show. It’s a perfect contrast of conservative meets edgy- very edgy. In this collection, there was not one ensemble I did not like: I fell in love with every piece that came down the runway. It was absolutely flawless.
