Cultural garb: “taboo”

While some cultural garb is accepted publicly, some cultural outfits or articles of clothing should not be worn in public, such as the kilt. The man skirt – whatever its cultural significance – seems to be an absurd, inappropriate, and unnecessary expression of one’s heritage. In terms of cultures which must wear their assigned clothing, such as Hindus and their saris, and others – I feel like it is more acceptable and not as socially awkward. You don’t see Mexicans walking around in sombreros, or a Gypsy such as myself walking around in an Esmerelda costume.
